GFS students’ service day at Vernon Park (4/19)

A wonderful group of hardworking students from Germantown Friends School pulled up leaves, dug weeds out of our really tough cocoanut matting in the rain garden, planted hostas near Germantown Avenue and cleared leaves from around our unfortunate butterfly bush that had been damaged by a falling tree.  They also found time to chat, not only with each other, but with the seniors coming to the Center in the Park.
The rain garden looks so good now – can’t wait for the the native plants to begin their flowering cycle.
The Friends of Vernon Park are really grateful for this extra help.  The park is very heavily used by many many different groups in Germantown, and making it a flowering, green and welcoming place is so important.
Thanks Again GFS!
